Message from the SAFE House
The White Mountain Association for Victims of Domestic Violence, operating as the White Mountain SAFE House (WMSH), is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides direct services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Services provided by WMSH include, but are not limited to: crisis intervention, residential shelter for women and children, individual and group advocacy, 24-hour crisis hotline, 24-hour on-site advocacy and support, children’s advocacy, case management, referral services, emergency financial assistance, lay legal advocacy, and follow-up services (after care), as well as conducting outreach and community education. Our ultimate goal is to provide shelter, support, and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence in order to provide them with the options to move forward in their lives and become self-sufficient and independent members of the local community, as well as maintain a life free from abuse.
Unfortunately, our services are consistently needed in our community; this constant need requires support from community members and partnering organizations in order for our program to continue to provide these much-needed services. In 2014, we had a total of 248 residents (adults and children), resulting in a total of 5,059 bed nights; this equates to a total of 15,177 meals provided for the year. Each year we experience a 10 – 20% increase in these numbers, which shows how substantially our service needs grow each year.
We appreciate the community’s dedication to help and support the White Mountain SAFE House. With your support, we will be able to continue to provide a safe place for the many women and children who fall victim to domestic violence.
Thank you for being a friend of the White Mountain SAFE House!
